Haven’t used Metis yet? New to Wanchain? We’re here to help.

Let’s jump right into the fray with an in-depth guide outlining how to complete a crosschain transaction using Wanchain.

What Is Wanchain?

Wanchain is a blockchain interoperability protocol. Its cross-chain infrastructure comprises both a sustainable Layer 1 proof-of-stake (PoS) blockchain and a decentralized wide area network of blockchains. The Wanchain Layer 1 PoS blockchain is a full Ethereum-like environment that works with industry-standard Ethereum tools, dApps, and protocols.

In August 2023 Wanchain introduced its XFlows solution to Metis. XFlows is a decentralized cross-chain solution that enables native-to-native cross-chain transformations for assets that exist natively on multiple chains. XFlows leverages the power of Wanchain’s cross-chain bridges to provide easy, non-custodial transformations between chains without the need for centralized exchanges.

The below graphic depicts users’ token flow options between Metis and other networks.

Beautiful, isn’t it?

Bridging Guide

As an example, this guide will demonstrate how to cross-chain transfer USDC from Arbitrum to Metis.

Note: All cross-chain transactions on Wanchain between EVM networks follow the same process. This includes all supported EVM networks including Wanchain, Ethereum, Metis, Avalanche, BNB Chain, Polygon, Optimism, Astar, etc.

Step 1: Make sure you have the necessary wallets installed.

Before completing decentralized cross-chain transactions using the WanBridge web portal, you need to ensure you have access to the correct wallet(s). You must have wallets for each network involved in the cross-chain transaction. Metamask is capable of this task.

Step 2: Visit the WanBridge web portal and connect your wallet.

Click “Connect to Wallet”.

Click “MetaMask”.

If this is your first time using the WanBridge web portal, you will first need to give permission to connect your wallet. Follow the MetaMask prompts by clicking “Next” then “Connect” as instructed.

Step 3: Initiate a cross-chain transaction to move your tokens to Metis.

Select the token you want to move from the drop-down menu and select the origin and destination network (Metis, in this case). Finally, input your destination address in the “Recipient” field as well as the amount of tokens you want to send cross-chain. Click “Next”.

Confirm that you are not sending to an exchange address, then click “Confirm”.

Confirm that all the details are correct then click “Confirm”.

Confirm the spending cap request by clicking “Approve” and “Next” on the MetaMask pop-up windows.

Confirm the transaction by clicking “Confirm” in the MetaMask pop-up window.

Step 4: Wait for your crosschain transaction to complete. It is now processing.

While your crosschain transaction is processing, the status will change three times:

  • Processing (1/2) …
  • Processing (2/2) …
  • Success!

Note: The speed of the crosschain transaction is entirely dependent on the networks involved. Transactions involving slower networks like Bitcoin or Ethereum may take several minutes or more to complete.

Step 5: Confirm the receipt of your funds. Your crosschain transaction is complete!

Once your crosschain transaction is complete, you’ll see your token balance on Metis and the crosschain transaction status change to “success.”
